On the Spanish Triumph: I only wish Orson Welles was with us today to celebrate the Spanish wine industry by drinking it.

Too obscure a reference for this hour of night?

Obviously chinkbot was on top of it though.

The chinkbot was bitingly witty there. I assume the point was that my joke's failure led to its success!

Or, that one of my jokes someday will succeed in being funny. How exciting!

Orson Welles was of course touting a cheap California wine with a French-sounding name. You can take the boy out of Kenosha, but you can't take the Kenosha out of the boy.

That too. Earlier he was promoting Spanish wines. In his film Don Quixote he is doing so, and simultaneously filming himself filming Don Quixote. A strange and, in a way, a wonderful film.

Gallo, right? (Gallows?) ;^)

Quote from my oinophile brother; "California makes some wonderful wines, but Gallo is not among them."

Another one from him: "You probably didn't taste the last $10 you paid for that bottle of wine."

I think it was Paul Mason. Or at least that was one of them.

He also trafficked in frozen peas, ground chuck and breaded cod.

Ah, yes, Orson "We will sell no wine before it's time - which just so happens to be the moment you hand us the crumpled up dollar bills and assorted loose change you've collected" Welles. Because the wine remembers, and so do I.
