It's now official: Brett Favre will not be back to play football. I think what ever hope the Vikings had of capturing the division again are considerably faded now.
I'm predicting The Packers will struggle this year as they did last year. Opening day will be crucial for them, as it will be for The Bears, in predicting how the rest of their season plays out.
The Lions will win a game, but won't be much better than last year. They've put a lot of hope in Matt Stafford, but it will take more than that to rebuild a team.
The Bears now have Jay Cutler, a real proven Quarterback. Though I haven't drunk the Cutler kool-aid yet, I remain hopeful that there is somebody who can receive for him.
Hester has good hands, but still, I'm wary.
Taking a big chance, but I'll call the division this way:
1.Bears
2.Packers
3.Vikings
4.Lions
I reserve the right to make make changes to this posting as the season progresses.

I'm glad for Favre that he's calling it quits, and no, not just because he broke the hearts of Bears fans so many times. Not that many guys can play 17 or 18 years in the NFL and still be able to walk--cash in a couple more endorsements and enjoy one's retirement.
i was thinking that there was a good possibility that he wouldnt finish the season if he started.
old guys break easier, so the vikings would have paid a ton of $$ for a QB that had a chance of beng little more than a hole to throw money into.
Well, Bears fans like us theoretically could cheer for the Vikings throwing away salary cap money...if it didn't involve the suffering of a fellow human being. :^)
I can go with that, and since it's the NFC Central, I'll add that the Bears will win the division with a 8-8 record, and some team at 12-4 will get stuck with a wild card berth. Life just ain't fair sometimes.
the computers have the Vikings favored in 15 of 16 games for 2009 with T Jack @ Q.B. With Farve only minimally better advancing the NFC championship game before losing. And they won't be losing to the Packers or Bears. The Vikings' just signed Winfield and the Defense is what is going to carry them.
Cutler's problem was well summed up by Jim Souhan in the Star Tribune -- he's been seen in more bars in Chicago than Captain Morgan. I don't know what it is with Bears quarterbacks, but they all seem to party a little too hearty.
Glad y'all are burying my Packers. We like that.
I think the Vikings are overrated. They are, after all, the Vikings. But Gino sees through this and puts them at number 3. He is correct.
But Gino, even having refused the Kool-Aid, still puts the Bears ahead of the Packers. Oops. :)
