Bruno

Much anticipated and built up, I walked out twenty minutes into the film, during the dancing penis.

Nothing is funny here, but everything is crude, in a faggola kinda way.

Worst ever.

I was planning on avoiding Bruno like a Leprosy convention, but thanks for the confirmation.

Sorry to see you wasted ten bucks and half an hour of your life. Methinks the name of the star should have been your first tip that this one would be a dog.

wd/bubba: i heard so much much about how funny borat was, and never saw it, i was expecting this one to be funny, so i ventured forth.

i didnt waste the money though. they gave me a refund. the gal behind the counter said they've given lots of refunds for this movie.

I liked Borat quite a lot, though I don't know that I would recommend it to everyone. You have to have an appreciation for humor that revels in profound discomfort.

That said, I've heard several people who liked Borat say that Bruno isn't very good. Which doesn't surprise me, since Bruno was the weakest character of the old Ali G show by far.

Friend of mine, she said this movie was an assult on humanity. Seems you agree.

brian: 'bruno isnt very good' has got to be the understatement of the movie season.

palm boy: from a christian perspective, your friend would be correct.
but i normally set such perspectives aside when i'm going to a movie.

I didn't even remotely consider going to see that flick. Just a picture of the main character told me everything I needed to know. And about ten minutes into Borat was all I could handle - I could imagine just how bad Bruno was going to be.

I really don't see what other people see in any of Cohen's projects. I have a twisted sense of humor, but this stuff is equitable to juvenile fart jokes between cavemen.

Face it - when a theater is willing to give you a refund simply because the movie sucks, and not because of a technical malfunction or extreme circumstance - that should serve as a warning to the rest of us. Dayam...

robi: actually, theater chains issue refunds all the time, for any reason you state that made your experience less than enjoyable.

about once a yr i excercise this option, usually due to overcrowding leaving me in a lousy seat.

I didn't realise that. I figured from all of the negative reviews I've heard about this movie in particular, that perhaps even the movie industry itself was taking a Mulligan over Bruno...which wouldn't have been a surprise.

Upon further reflection, Gino, as someone who regularly goes out of his way to tweak liberal/PC sensibilities, I'm kind of surprised you don't have a greater appreciation for Cohen's stuff, which is essentially the same approach in the opposite direction.

brian: before this, all i seen was clips from ali g, which i found funny. not as funny as,say, larry the cable guy, but still funny.

i can laugh at most anything, and i'm not prudish at all. i like stuff thats in poor taste. but this stuff... it just wasnt funny.

i dont think i go out of my way to tweak liberals and pc's. i'm just that way anyway. i just say what comes to mind, and if some are shocked, what ya want me to do about it?

I think Cohen is this generation's Andy Kaufman, except that with this generation you have to work even harder to shock.
