The facts of the case (i.e., who started the confrontation, etc.) are absolutely in dispute, and justice (for all parties involved) demands a thorough investigation. It's a shame so many on both sides are rushing to judgement, here.

Not that that makes it OK to kill him, but it would at least partially explain other peoples' response to him.
And having worn "hoodies" a lot, no, I don't think that is probable cause. Unless hooded sweatshirts mean something entirely different in areas with bars on the windows.
