This is what happens when you try to make a role model out of a guy who swims for a living...
I must even consider Obama an improvement over this kid when it comes to qualities I would want my kids to emulate. In that case both the kids and the role model are highly tentative...
i consider phelps a better role model than any politician.
politicians get their positions through lies,distortions and halftruths. and then use their position to position themselves futher.

I probably agree with you. Certainly as a whole, politicians are bad role models if only because the life of a politician is mostly a miserable one. And intelligence very well may be overrated. The Greek heroes were not particularly intelligent, and Achilles probably had more in common with Phelps than with Obama- but in our age Achilles would probably be either in an asylum or in prison. We have no place for real heroes.
That was a rant and not at all to the point.
niice. I'd have to say and I'm sure you were around for this.... Mark Spitz was a much better champion. And don't look for Phelps to try a comeback at what? Age 37?
