Convo With A Family Member:

ME: When did you know the baby wasn't yours?

THEM: When it came out Black.

...Did they actually check their background? Or, more effectively, do a paternity test?

A neighbor's daughter asks every single couple she doctors through a pregnancy if they have any known black ancestors-- doesn't matter, as long as it's on both sides-- because a couple who only had one known great-grandparent on each side that was black (her blonde, him sandy-blonde) had a "black" baby, and DNA proved it was definitely his. (and hers, for the really paranoid)

Human genetics is flippin' strange.
