I dunno -- every damn state is strange in its own way. You could pick any four states to start this process and we'd get tired of them.
That's actually a great argument to carve up the country into four regions (West, Midwest, South, and North) of 12 states each (California and Texas excluded, because they have such a disproportionately huge voice anyway), every region gets one of its' states' primary/caucus in the first four, and they rotate every four years. Every four years, four different states, all regions represented.
I mean, it isn't going to happen because it's the states themselves that sort this stuff out, but as long as I'm making shit up, might as well go hog-wild.
Plus, a 48-year cycle would make history really interesting, even though most of us won't be around to see it.

one state every week for a year. we can save time by lumping CT/RI/MA, etc...
maybe two states +/-... per week might be better. and all primaries give out their delegates proportionately. no more winner take all.
It's genuinely very complex in this busy life to listen news on TV, therefore I simply use internet for that reason, and get the latest news.
