Shocked...

...that shit like this is still possible today.

A small Kentucky church has chosen to ban marriages and even some worship services for interracial couples. The Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church, located in Pike County, made the vote in response to a longtime member who is engaged to a man whose birthplace is in Zimbabwe.

Have they never heard of bad press before?

It's pretty appalling, no doubt.

I prefer my bigots loud and proud.

Easier to avoid that way.

Ugh. Beyond the question of understanding bad press (many fundamentalists, of which I am one, almost welcome it), there is the simple question of what in the Scriptures endorses this. Nothing that I can find.

i guess 'freewill' is only free if they approve of it?

By small baptist church, there is a grand total of 40 members. The vote taken to make the decision, was a 9-6. This is a couple of bigots making global news, but a wonderfully far cry from the pervasive racism of decades past.

Gino; freewill means that they reject Calvin's doctrines of predestination and such. Interestingly, I found the denomination website, and they also don't clearly endorse the Trinity. They're heretics, as far as I can tell.

And as Palmboy notes, ain't it great that this is news south of the Mason Dixon Line? 40 years ago, it wouldn't have been the case!

"heretics." lol.

Honestly, I'd rather they be wide open bigots. Easier to spot, avoid and ridicule.
