Everything that I need I take care of throughout the year, as the needs arise. Anything that I want I already have, or soon will have, without using a credit card. It is for these reasons that I never could understand the psychotic desire some people have to go shopping the day after Christmas.

So,let's see... if I was like everybody else, anything that I run out and purchase today will be just stuff that I don't need, or want... purchased solely for the reason of 'saving money' because it was on sale.

And I'd end up on December 27th, with less money, more shit, and fewer places to put it so I'll eventually end up trashing it anyway.
Trashing something that I wasted time and gas money on, just because it was a few bucks cheaper than it was last week. Something that I didn't even want in the first place, or I'd have it already.

Maybe I'm just too simple in my mindset.

Simple is good. If you don't need it and you don't want it, then it would be pretty dumb to buy it. Unless of course you actually like spending time in shopping malls. I think they're depressing.

Scheduled sales can be looked at another way ... a time to land a planned purchase that is otherwise out of reach (or on which one can save a bunch of cash). Sometimes you lose because the desired item isn't in stock ... but if you are in the market for a class of item (new shirts, a washer), then careful perusal of the ads and an in-and-out shopping strategy can save quite some bit of cash. Even better if you can do it online and avoid the brouhaha.

Post-Christmas isn't when I buy big things, though. I wait a few days and pick up little things for next year's stocking stuffers and things like wrapping paper (need to do that this year used up a few old rolls). Things I *will* need, but get much cheaper this way (and avoid fighting next year's Christmas shopping crowds ... this year I hardly set foot in a store all of December!).

WB, over the years I have learned not to say certain things out loud if the missus is within earshot.
Or do you actually like to antagonize her by saying such things?

Heh heh heh
