Watching the NFL in general - from the list of players who have been accused of sexual assault/rape and who happen to be on a bunch of teams BTW, to the commercials berating men for being emasculated by evil she-bitch women - is treasure trove of Feminist commentary about football being representative of society. (Right after last night's playoff game there was a commercial for breast augmentation surgery - and considering who advertisers think is watching football, and who are the humans on this planet who have breasts, that is pretty freaking egregious.)
Somehow I usually manage to have fun watching football anyway, but I'm not going to say it doesn't involve a ton of ridicule that is extremely amusing to me.
Although I am surprised to consider that only Feminists would have a problem with celebrating the careers of sexual assaulters/rapists. Doesn't that disturb most people, Feminist or not?
In the case of Tebow, if he managed to take down the Packers (if such a matching up were to occur) with his idiotically haphazard non-passing method of being a quarterback, he would be utterly redeemed, in my view.

i concur. i'll even be less annoyed with his Jesus talk.
Amanda's comments regarding the general stupidity of commercials during football games goes to the heart of why my preferred way to watch is in a bar with a couple of friends to talk to and/or good music playing, and the sound on the TVs off.
It's an interesting thought that evangelical Christian footballers are helping to sell Cialis and cheap beer. And apparently cosmetic surgery.
(my step-sister's husband helped develop Cialis for Lilly, and is a big reason I no longer watch football....good guy, but I'm not ready to explain what a "four hour..." is to my daughters yet)
And at the risk of agreeing with Amanda (don't die of shock my friend!), count me in as being very troubled by the things football players get away with.

I see what you did there. Heh!
I've got my suspicions.
Missing Amanda, I take it?
i like amanda. she brings something to the table, even if it befuddles me at times.
Okay, well here I am then!

did you buy stock in Lilly? nothing wrong with fours of... well, you know.
@Bike Bubba, the most egregious sin of the evangeical community in that list is the expansion of cheap beer sales. *shudder*
Palm Boy: agreed. Except perhaps we ought to be bothered that evangelical footballers are helping cover for the sins of their less moral teammates.
