It's pretty plain to see that 300 Americans got lucky on Christmas day. If that dude's ass had blown off as intended, real tragedy on the order of Pan Am 103 would have been the headlines of the months.
So, instead of folks reacting in a grown-up fashion, this whole event has instead turned into partisan gotcha name calling.
Obama don't care.
Cheney cared less than Obama.
Bush sucked first.
Obama sucks harder.
Grow the fuck up already.
First off, I don't doubt for one second that Obama wants to do everything he can to prevent another attack. And in a few respects, he's amped some of the terror war stuff that was left in his lap. For instance, expanding the number of Al Qaida thugs vaporized by drone aircraft.
Believe when I say it: Obama may be a self-obsessed pussy, but he ain't shy about ordering that others be snuffed out.
And even if he didn't care about us, the people, (and I doubt he really does anyway) he's in enough love with himself to not allow some terror attack to hurt him politically.
He ain't none too bright, but he's plenty smart in that regard.
But, like what is not uncommon with new presidents, this dude dove into the deep end when he really should have began in the kiddie pool. I'm not giving him a pass, personally speaking, because he did campaign hard for this job.
But the voters should have known what they were getting.
And it's wrong to be jumping up and down because he doesn't handle this stuff like a pro.
We haven't had a true professional in the White House since Bush, Sr.
George H. W. Bush was the most qualified/experienced guy to take the office in probably 100yrs, having been 'in' at every level of politics and government.
And even he managed to screw the pooch a few times.
What helped Bush, Jr was that he had been surrounded all his life with his dad's career. He had a sense that he needed to have a sense about things. Kinda like, if you hang around a ballpark long enough, you'll have some kind of an idea of how the game is played even if you've never actually played it yourself.
Not exactly 'experience', but about on par with the average president. And we know where that got us.
In contrast, Obama had been hanging around the likes of Bill Ayers, MoveOn.Org, and that angry nigger who has a big church in Chicago. Not exactly a statesman like bunch of company from which one would learn how to manage an administration at the higher levels. Or a foreign policy, for that matter.
But that is who we got. The voters have spoken, and nobody can change that.
Barrack Obama is president.
Dick Cheney no longer is.
And mistakes will happen, no matter who is The House. And some things can't even be logically planned for. (Seriously, was there even a plan in the event of a Panty Bomber? Think Bush had one?)
Both sides need to stop making exaggerated claims of competence, or equally exaggerated accusations of failure.
They need to work together, because somewhere out there at this very minute, there is a raghead stuffing little bags of Semtex up his asshole hoping to bring a Dreamliner down over Chicago.

Amanda: i use race based slurs within a context. always have. always will.
to just say 'gee, that colored holy man' would truly obscure the point, wouldn't it?
unless, of cousre, i was speaking from a standpoint of respect for the race mongering reverend. but i wasnt.
The lack of communication and co-operation between all the security branches was a problem everyone was talking about after 9/11. If we're still talking about it after all this time it isn't the current President having a lack of experience as much as it the last President being a sleepwalking piece of shit. In context.
Thus far the only reaction has been empty words from an empty suit. No accountability; where does the buck stop?
krod: obama doent have a crystal ball.
and in the speech he gave yesterday, i'd say he laid it down pretty well. i think a head will roll. maybe two heads.
did W have plans for a panty bomber? nope. so, the blame does go in the other direction, as well.
We always fight the last war. The key thing is understanding who the enemy is. I'm hopeful that this near miss/lucky break will disabuse the Obama administration of some of the dumb things it apparently believes about terrorists.
It's good if heads do roll. The larger question is will the replacement heads be better. Guess we'll find out, huh?
Obama supporters claimed he was The LightWorker, The One,... The One who Won...
"i think a head will roll. maybe two heads."
When we see that happen I will give credit, but not before.
I credit Bush with creating a huge bearcrapcrisy full of waste and lacking on accountability. I place a lot more trust in a fellow passenger than some TSA drone workerbee that really can't get fired even if they tried.
My two cents
When Americans start thinking
of their nation as a nation
and a nation as a community..
instead of a market place
where politics is a team sport
and competition is the driving
force
America might finally get it
but I aint holding my breath
looks like it is on the losing
side of history.......
But on the upside it burned bright
and furiously for a brief wink of time.............
Chills.
oh chills...
good point, but i'd say it's time was a bit more than briefly.
Gino.......... mayhaps...I guess it is about on par with several of the shorter term empires of history....ones that had ..a couple hundred years max as top dog.....
In any case most of them were a brief wink of time as well.
In my opinion Americans confuse their greatest with their republic
and constitution which is idealism and not realistic.
What made America great was it ruthlessly committed genocide and ethnic cleansing to exploit the vast natural resources it conquerred during its expansion west.
And used slavery to build its initial economic foundation.
To believe American greatest or prominence was based on political ideas of freedom and individual responsibility is fine idealism
but basically horse shit.
You know it I know it
and so do the American politicians and corporate leaders know it
Of course that is all simply
a hippieredneckbumpkins opinion :o)
Laters
Chills
Chills, you really do hate America, eh? Ever think of moving to North Korea?
for the record: chills and i go back almost as far as RW and i.
chills: in truth, slavery was a destructive force in our history. to say we were built upon it is to ignore the facts and the following aftermath that extends far beyond a civil war (and i'm not even including the civil rights aspect)
as a result, the whole southern half of our nation (due to climate, should have been the most prosperous half) is just now catching up economically to the rest of it.
maybe ghettos increase the wealth of Canada, but a whole geographic region of ghetto doesnt much add to our bottom line here below the 49th.
what made us great was our people. the same thing that makes Canada almost as great. folks could come here and prosper in ways unimagined back in their old countries.
wether by design, or through accident, what was permisable made things possible.
you and i share a similar first generation immigrant background. i think you will agree to my last statement.
but Canada will only be as great as the USA when they can stop comparing themselves to it. as long as your identity as Canadians is defined by your opposition to the USA, you will always be second place.
as for the indians: we did nothing to them that the tribes hadnt done to each other for milleniea before we ever got here.
we were just better at it, is all.
k-rod: chills dont hate america. just like any canadian, he is overwhelmed by it, culturally, economically and geographically...
and reserves the right to critique just as we do to them and to others.
Ah, that explains it. Thanks Gino.
K-rod.....
your comment is par for the course
anyone who doesnt see america
through rose colored glasses
must hate america
I imagine every citizen of every
country on the face of the planet
since time began had the same
myopic view of their nation
as you do
idealists are a blight on any nations
survival........they are fail to use reason and objectivity
Of course that is probably why
nations rise and fall
nations are simply human constructs after all
of course that is just my
opinion.....:o)
have a good one eh
Chills :o)
Gino........
Slavery was the founding economic back bone of the USA.
I agree in the long run it was
destructive....but it was destructive ultimately
because of the
3/5ths compromise
and how that shaped the political
mindset of the America til this
day.
I also agree....Canada has a symbiotic relationship with USA.
Our bad.........
as the USA rises or falls so too
will Canada
unless we can find alternative
trade partners to mitigate the coming decline of America..as a market place for Canuckian resources etc.
I have about the same opinion of
Canadian asshat idealogues as I do Americans
but we speak better English
and of course our beer is much much better eh..:o)
Laters
Chills
better beer. that i'll give ya.
but we got better football.
Let me know when the Canucks make a better brew than Summit Extra Pale Ale.
As a matter of fact, I would bet that you can find a lot better beers in the good ol' USA. The small breweries have really exploded over the past 20 years; there are some great beers out there to enjoy.
Hey Chills, there might still be hope for me; maybe I might have an epiphany while relaxing on beautiful Lake Vermilion with friends/family/food/fun that the good ol' USA is really an evil entity that only destroys everything it touches...
...or maybe that epiphany might happen while smowmobiling in the beautiful nature of northern MN near the BWCA...
...or maybe when I see my next 10 point buck...
...yep, that epiphany that the American dream is a hoax probably happens to most people when they are having fun at the cabin.
Don't get me wrong, Chills, I like your grumpiness!!!
k rod: dont put words in his mouth, or assume you know what he's really like.
just deal with the words he's posted.
Gino, what the hell are you talking about, I meant to put no words in his mouth.
Now on the other hand, Gino, if you look at the actual words he wrote: "K-rod.....
your comment is par for the course
anyone..."
Way off base, since I throw plenty of criticism at our country, left and right. But Gino, I do appreciate your protective nature toward him. ;^)
.
In your heart you know I am right
